Practicum for professional learning. A proposal based on joint reflection on practical situations and collaboration between schools and universities

Practicum is a highly valuable educational environment in initial teacher training, due to their potential to link educational theory and practice and develop collaborative reflective processes between schools and universities that help build professional knowledge. However, it is not easy to develop proposals that effectively harness this potential. This article presents a practicum proposal in which student learning is approached as a process of reflective and professional inquiry, organised around a system of collaborative mentoring between schools and universities, and structured around joint reflection between mentors and students focused on the articulation of theory and practice. This proposal has been developed over several years in the context of a series of projects to improve initial teacher training.
